For one reason or another, Central Administration wouldn’t come up and the only thing i could see was HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable..
easy fix.
Check the Application Pools for SharePoint Central Administration v3 and make sure it’s running.
*Note*
If you have recently updated the password for the service account that the app pool runs under, you might see this. simply update the login and password the app pool is using.
done!
Thank you! It’s resolve my problem.
This also works for SharePoint 2010, but the application pool name is still “SharePoint Central Administration V3”, which confused me…
thnks..it helps..
Thanks it really helped me.
Thanks much ……After a much headache…it solved my problem…………
Thanks again..
I do it but it stopped automatically again!!! why?
Did you look at changing the start up options?
After trying many things this worked for me. In my case the password never changed. It just quit working after a microsoft update. To change the password, right click the SBS app pool, select Basic Settings, find account and click the (…) button. It will then prompt you for username and password and wham you are back in business.
Other than Application Pool in Stopped status, There are few more reasons for Service Unavailable: HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable in SharePoint, like Password expiry, etc.
Found this checklist to resolve this error in SharePointDiary.com – http://www.sharepointdiary.com/2011/04/http-error-503-service-is-unavailable.html#ixzz2aWWLlh3l
